I have a friend who wants to do this and I actually might look into it as well. Anyone here do it? Any pro's and con's, day in the life, advice?

I'm not a car painter, but my dad has painted several cars and I have painted a little as well. I also have a couple of friends that worked for a company that did paint, but it wasn't automotive.
I will say that the job is very tedious. You have to know how to use bondo and fix dents and rust and other damaged body parts. You also have to be pretty good at it, and not make mistakes, otherwise you will have a lot of unhappy customers.
I know that my friends use to complain about all of the fumes and the dust that they had to deal with when they were working with paints, but I don't know if they were using filters and ventilation as much as they should.
I believe that there is some money in it, especially if you are really good. I know that show quality finishes are pretty expensive. Also, you have the benefit of being able to do side jobs for people and you can paint a lot of your own stuff. Also, if you want to get into building up salvaged cars, you can save a lot by doing your own paint and body work.
