OK so Ive got this interview on monday for a unit secretary at the pediatrics intensive care unit. What kind of questions should I be prepared for. Im a student going for my RN. Im working on my pre reqs, and Ive been trying to get a job at a hospital for 2 years. This Is the FIRST interview Ive gotten and I want this job bad...... Please give me some advice. How can I wow them? And what will they ask me? Does anyone have experience as a unit secretary or administrative assistant at a hospital. whats it like?

Here are some duties you might have as a supporting clerical assistant: Paging doctors, answers phone calls, coordinating room changes and transportation when patients leave the floor, making appointments for procedures for the patients, keeping the unit supplied with pens, paper, forms, etc., ordering supplies, entering labs and procedures that doctors write for into the computer, keeping charts organized. These are mostly the things you will be doing. Tell the interviewer your plans to become an RN, and emphasize skills that would help with the listed duties above. If you have medical terminology under your bet or anatomy classes - let them know this as well. Have a broad idea about lab studies, ultrasounds, radiology, ekg's, and common pharmaceuticals. Good luck.

congrats on the interview The key word in this job is "support" - this position will be a catch-all. In a hospital environment, that means different tasks from different areas. Be prepared to explain how you are going to pursue your RN degree and work full-time. And don't expect your new company to be accomodating - if it happens, that's a bonus. It's great that you've improving on your nursing degree. So sell that about yourself. Also appear cooperative, motivated to help 'anyone', open to new skills, flexible, etc.. Good luck - remember be professional, polite and productive.
