Is it profitable to be a pizza delivery driver?
Asked by cid
This place is near a college town although it is further away in comparison to other pizza places. It is also a restaurant. I get good gas mileage and this pizza shop is in a rich area. In general is it profitable to be a pizza delivery boy?

Absolutely, but if you have a nice car, I might suggest getting something specifically for delivering. It puts a lot of wear and tear, along with miles on your car, but if you've got a good area, it's possible to make some very good money.

A:
figure out about what it takes to operate your car- figure in the things like insurance, tires, oil changes, wear and tear on your brakes, and other assorted expenses related to your car. This generally adds up to about $.45 cents per mile (cpm) once you average that out, figure out about how much you will make per delivery and how many deliveries are possible in an hour and how many miles you will have to drive to make that. Once you know your expense to profit ratio, you can figure out how much per hour your making. Then you will know if its worth your time.

It depends on the hours you will be working (rush hours, closing or morning shifts make a difference). College kids dont tip. But if you are in a rich area, that is a plus.
