.
Is it possible to work as an EMT during the summer?
Asked by .
I'm a college student and I'm thinking of getting certified so that I could work over the summer. Can you be employed as an EMT for such a limited amount of time? Could I volunteer during school?

The answer to your question is definitely YES! Here in Los Angeles, most ambulance companies have a very high turnover rate and that really has to do with the working conditions and the pay. As a result of the high turnover rate, there are multiple opportunities to work a summer, part-time position with a company. If you are considering making this a career, I would suggest that you work for a 911 provider rather than a transfer company. Get as much experience as you can and ask your local paramedics questions and they should be willing to help you in your quest. Good luck!! Capt. Absolutely, there are business that need people during those times especially for state fairs and county fairs. Also to cover vacations, you could stay on with them and work during breaks at school.
