How long does it take for a LPN to go back to school to become an RN?
Asked by Angel
Someone told me that once you become an LPN you can then go back to school for 1 year to become an RN. Is this true? I thought that once you are an LPN you then will have to go back to school 2 years to become an RN. I would like only accurate answers please. If you do not know then i'd rather you not even respond to my question.

It's generally about 1 year for an Associate's Degree in Nursing, which gets you the RN. You might have some pre-reqs to take which might make it a semester or two longer. You'd be wise to take all your required general education courses prior to starting the nursing program, because it will be much more intense than your LPN program, and it's an advantage if you can focus on only the nursing courses once you begin. But the LPN to RN (ADN) program itself is only 12-15 months at most schools.
