What is the difference between an RN and a LVN?

I am taking the long route to my ultimate goal of becoming a RN. I am starting out as an LVN, then work my way up to an RN. What will be the difference as far as my job description as well as pay for the state of Texas in the DFW area?

Difference, LVN work under supervisory of RN and more practice nursing work. LVN makes $5 to 8 less than RN, in TX many make $20/hr, highest pay is in CA, SF bay area, start salary $38/hr, many make $50/hr.
