Is it ok to call the store manager before I get an application?

I want to apply for a sales associate position, but I have no prior work experience. So I was wondering, is it ok if I called the manager and asked her/him if they accepted people with no work experience before I went to the store and got an application?

very good idea.. tell him/her you are very intrested in the position mgrs get alot of resumes...you will be put on top if you remind them.
been in retail mgmt 20 years.
