Most people who become car designers go to one of two specific schools. These are Kettering University in Michigan and Georgia Tech in Atlanta GA. Kettering is associated with GM and Georgia Tech with Ford. Look at these schools web sites for specific programs.
Interestingly enough, Kettering and GeorgiaTech both tried to recruit my daughter because of her passion for transportation. GT even accepted her for a grad program but were too slow in offering financial aid and she went some place else.
