Is it easy to learn to be a line cook?
Asked by the champ is here
I understand it can be a grueling job but is it difficult? How long should it take to learn and do most employers require prior experiance?

Many employers will train you, and like anything you aren't sure how to do, you'll get it rather quickly. It shouldn't be too hard to learn if you stick with it. Many employers do require prior experience tho.

Most do - some will start you off assisting . It all depends on you . Some people naturally catch on quick and others definitely do not . A friend of mine never did it but I know that if he did he'd catch on immediately . Myself ? I tried it at a new job and no matter what I did couldn't get it right . Give it a shot , man!

It really depends on your location and the amount of items your restaurant offers. If the place is your BASIC burger shot with fried foods then yes it should be pretty easy to learn with no prior cooking skill. Now if its an apple bees, or a restaurant of that nature it will take longer to learn. and may require prior experience, But i can tell you from experience line cook/ cook for a couple years ... it was one of the best jobs i ever had
