Cass, the Paranormal
What is a good asking price for a babysitter?
Asked by Cass, the Paranormal
I am a certified babysitter, but I'm not sure how much to charge. I know what to do for babies and kids too, my mom says that I should charge people 10 dollars an hour but I was worried if that's too much. I'm going into college so I would really love ten or more but I don't want to seem pushy. Help?

that sound resonable but it depends how many kids they have like if just one kid, then 10 dollars an hour but if like two or three maybe like 15 dollars an hour. i know someone who made 100 in 3 hours with 3 kids, thats 33 dollars an hour

yeh 10 sounds good , easy money for easy work

10 is a bit much. I'd say 6 or 7 dollars an hour. It's a good fee so people will be attracted to your service, which will get more business, which means more money to use for decent food in college...not just ramen :D

Rates will vary by area & the number & ages of kids. Ask around family & friends what other people charge or pay. If you ask for too much, people will tell you; too little, no feed-back.

you can ask them to pay you what seems fair. sometimes they will throw a number out and if it is low you can say that is fine, that is usually what i get around $9-10. usually they will give you what they usually pay their other babysitters and also a tip.

i think it really depends on how many kids you are babysitting & their ages & when. i think if you are babysitting one kid at like 5pm, $10/hour. more money for more kids, and more money late on like fri/sat nights.

I think 10 is a good number but if i were you I would also charge for each child and also have a charge for the childrens ages like children from 1-3 i would have a charge because they are young and could get more hurt easily than children 4 and up.
