Depending on the type of store in question, these positions are generally one in the same. A sales representative is the liaison between the name brand products sold in a store (e.g. Nike, Reebok, Spalding, Rawlings, etc.) and the store's customers. A Customer Service representative is another term for sales person, and also deals directly with the customer to sell products and services. The term "customer service representative" is probably a nicer term than "sales clerk," but their duties are the pretty much the same.

They assist customers in finding the products they want to buy. They may also help them decide what they need.
