Will correctional officer's jobs suffer because of the economy?

I would expect the need for correctional officers to increase. Crime usually increases during bad economy because additional people will turn to crime. More people going to jail means more officers, I would think.

No, government jobs are immune to recessions. It's not like you are working in a car factory and then people stop buying cars.

There's always jobs in this field! the worst the economy=more crime=more jailers! Do a couple of years doing this, and study Criminal Justice, and start advancing thru this field! My son was CO, and it finally got to him! whose doing the time, the inmate or the guards!

Most likely not. I actually just went on a tour of the Lorain Correctional Institute in Grafton, Ohio which is a reception center for all of northeast Ohio on Wednesday and we talked about that a little bit, coming to the conclusion that crime its going to stop which gives good job security.
