How would the perfect cashier at a grocery store serve you?
Asked by Lara
No silly answers please. What would be the perfect scenario? I work as a cashier and want to do my best. So, for example: She/he greets you with a smile, starts a friendly conversation? Do you like them to ask you questions about how to pack your groceries, for example if you'd like the meat/shampoo/toothpaste separate? Thanks in advance for your answers :) Um, OK, I asked for no silly answers and I got two rude ones. It is not a sily question to ask if they want a certain item or certain items separately. Many people don't mind if different groceries are mixed, and prefer NOT TO WASTE A BAG. I know how to pack groceries, I've been doing it for ages now, I just want to know what you think, and how I could serve my customers even better. Thanks to anyone else who answers :)

A quick smile and maybe a "how are you today" Other than that I just want you to be quick and accurate. I would prefer for you to pay attention to what you're doing and not chat with your co-workers/friends. Packing the groceries is a no-brainer....keep the frozen stuff with the cold things...don't put milk on top of the eggs and do not put bread with anything that might squish it. And most important...if you are the checker in the "express" lane...Be quick about everything...I can't tell you the number of times that the regular lines have been moving quicker because the checker/bagger in the "express" lane is just slightly smarter than a wet paper towel. Would also help if you would chuck people out of the "10 or fewer items" line that have 15 items.

no that would show that u're crazy or retarded. as a cashier u should know how to pack the groceries. just give them a smile and ask about their day. but some ppl prefer not to chat so i dont know :D haha Um. OK... my answer wasnt meant to be interpreted as rude... just a general comment and a suggestion like u have asked. and to speak out for Turd - that she just told u that she prefer the self check out - that's not rude lol.
