Do I have to be majoring in Pre-Pharmacy in order to apply for a pharmacy tech job?
Asked by a lady
My friend said that I can apply for a job as a pharmacy tech, but don't I have to be majoring in a Pharmaceutical career? My friend said it doesn't matter, but I tried to fill out an application and it asked me if I was a pharmacy student or graduate.

Best Answer:
No. Some pharmacies will hire you as a pharmacy clerk and offer pharmacy technician training.

I guess it depends on the pharmacy, but my best friend is a pharmacy tech and she went to school for graphic design. lol. She's worked at Rite Aide and Target pharmacies.

There are pharmacy tech programs at some technical colleges. They run from 12 to 15 months. Quicker than the 4 or 5 year pharmacy degree. It pays less also though.
