looking to change jobs, is this a safe choice?

I am considering trying to get a job working for a glass manufacturing company ( making bottles for food products, etc.) as a production line worker. I know the job market out there is scary and uncertain right now, would this line of work be considered one where I wouldn't have to worry about layoffs and shutdowns as much as manufacturers who provide for the housing market? The company is Owens Illinois (O-I).

thats funny, i have the same factory in my IL town. do you live close to ottawa IL? They dont have many layoffs for the Owens company locally. But no job is lay off proof.
