Have you ever went back to a job you used to work at, how did it go?
Asked by self-actualized
Please give details. I am going back into selling auto insurance but actually I will do customer service work instead with just a little sales. I have been out of this for about 8 years. It seems like it will be easy like going back to school. Yet, I am worried about clients lining up & wanting my attention not seeing I have people before them. What happened when you went back to a job/career? Are you glad you did? Did you learn anything from it? Was it easier the second time around?

Yes.I was working for David Early Tire.I was pout in a no win situation.Sell a cheaper inferior part to a customer for the same price, that could damage a customers car or quit.Of coerce I quit.3 years later after the law suet's wore settled I replayed and was rehired on April 1.Thinking it was a joke I still showed up and was with the company for 15 low payed years. Each time I was transferred,I was replicate with a illegal alien. My last job was with Pep Boys.My boss couldn't understand why I hadn't finished a job I started in the morning. He could not see how getting poled off of it several times in the day and given other time consuming jobs could affect my performance. As I was on my lunch he approached my self and a norther guy and gave us a lecture on dragging our feet..After my lunch I went back to work on the truck and he came at me a gen.He wouldn't stop although I was doing my job and he was getting in my way.I lost my cool and blue up at him.Someone alts finished the job.And I quit. After that boss was fired, the others started to ask for me to come back.So as soon as I am feeling better I think I will check it out.If I can get the same pay or better and, better benifits. I think I will returne.

Just try to do your best each day. You are a co-worker, not the owner. If you like the place in the past, you will probably still like it. I was glad I went back because it was an opportunity to help those in need.

frequently in nightmares. didn;t go well in those dreams. I did change careers for a few years in my late 20's - went from accounting to retail management (software and computers) - stayed in retail for a few years, went back to acctg - been there last 17 yrs - my degree is in acctg - didn;t take too much to get back into acctg customer service is cake

Yes, I did. I took off from work for 5 years from at&t to raise my kids. After 5 years, I went back. I had to start at a lower paying job then before, but I knew when an opening came along that I would be more qualified then most. Sure enough, 1 year later, I went back to the job that I left previous. I was nervous for about a week, but then it was like I never left. It really felt good.
