Is it possible to be an Architect & an Interior Designer?
Asked by Bob.Builder
I am 16 years old and have been considering going into Architecture and/or Interior Design. I have drawn some sketches of homes. I love to think of structure as well as interior. I can think of really nice interior but also interesting exterior.
Architects make more money and usually they are separated from Interior Designer's, but I was wondering if it is possible to do both?

An Interior Designer can't do Architecture, you have to be licensed to practice architecture or to even legally call yourself an architect. But, an Architect can do Interior Design. Architecture encompasses interior design. That is why it takes at least 7-9 years to become a licensed architect... and they have to pass a grueling 4-day exam.
One thing you should consider is that few architects get to do what they want to do. Most architects don't get to design. Instead, they do CAD work, develop, or manage other people's designs. Interior Designers, on the other hand, get to do exactly what they love.
