Asked by Fouad K
I am working at the IT as a system analyst and I am studying Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering (Power and Control). I want to know is it possible to transfer from the current job to be an electrical engineer or some thing related without ignoring these years of experience at the IT department? Becasue I dont want to be at the IT department forever and I want to transfer to something more related to my field sych as Power, Instrumentation, control and Power system planning engineer. Thank you in advance I want more details from Mr. a a on this matter. I want to know what he means by knowledge base. If it is possible, he can explain his situation.

There should be no difficulty at all in transferring. Indeed, as virtually all modern electrical kit has network/web interfaces etc, your IT skills will be an asset. You may, however, need to undertake some additional training (practical 'on the job' or theoretical) to get you up to speed with current techniques in the electrical field. Hope that helps!

Yeah it is possible but you will have to start at the ground floor because you will lack the experience.

A:
yes, but the new work must be related to monitoring systems due that all networks now using software-based systems to make network control, as in your case you have to look to a department that's building a knowledge base, these departments usually need a power engineer with programming background and data analyses background.
