Job as an assistant innkeeper in Maine?
Asked by shae
I would like to find a job as an assistant innkeeper, or innkeeper-in-training in Maine. I would someday like to own my own bed and breakfast there but I need some experience first. If anyone knows of any related jobs, or any websites where I can find this type of job I would really like to know. Thanks in advance!!
I already know about the inns that immerse you in the business for a weekend or a week. Also about the seminars that you can go to. But thank you anyways for the information. My problem with those options are that they cost a lot of money for only a short amount of time. And as far as I'm concerned, you really don't get any experience working at an inn or bed and breakfast. How can you really get a feel for what the job is like if you don't experience it for an extended amount of time? I would rather find a job in the industry. But again, thanks for answering and I will definitely check out that website.

Several inns have programs where you stay for a weekend and help out, to get a feel for if the lifestyle is right for you. There are also several business that conduct seminars for aspiring innkeepers - that may also be a good option for you.
I would post an inquiry on the innspiring.com innkeeper forum - you will likely get 2 or 3 current innkeepers in Maine who can point you in the right direction. I think you'll have better luck finding an opportunity through networking in this particular scenario.
