I have several friends who are electrical engineers. The pros are that there is very little unemployment for engineers - any kind of engineers - the pay is good, and most engineering jobs come with good benefits. The cons are that you can get zapped when you're testing equipment if you set it up wrong. :-) You would probably also work for a salary, which means no overtime when you're expected to work late. If you want to be an electrical engineer, you have to get a degree in electrical engineering, or at least a two-year certificate. Sometimes if you have the certificate the employer will still hire you, with the expectation that you'll go to night school and finish your degree. Contact your local community college or junior college to see if they have a program. You might be able to get financial aid.
