I had a fourth interview on WED, when should I follow up and with who the recruiter or the operations manager?
Asked by clepto
I had a fourth interview last week, Wednsday to be exact, I interviewd with two operations managers and human resources, that was my second interview with them, they stated to me that "Tamara" (recruiter) will be in touch with me regarding the dicision. My question is the operation manager had gave me his business card in the first interview, would it be alright to follow up, by calling him directly, or calling the recruiter? Thank you hope to get your feedback Interview#1:Phone w/ recruiter Interview#2:Phone w/ human resources Interview#3:On site w/ operations manager Interview#4:on site w/ operations managers and human resources

I am a recruiter and this will be a point of view from that perspective. 1) Your recruiter should know what the status is, and you should know exactly where things stand at this stage of the process. You can call the recruiter. In fact, I would have called the recruiter last Friday. Hopefully, this will provide you with definitive feedback. If not, go to step 2. 2) If you have the Operations Manager's business card, then you should have an e-mail address. An e-mail is less invasive than a phone call, but still lets them know you are interested. Be careful with this type of e-mail. Keep it very short, and definitely don't ask for feedback (they told you feedback would come from the recruiter). Here's a guideline for the e-mail: subject line- A thank you from (your name). 1st sentence- thank them for the opportunity to interview. 2nd sentence- tell them one reason why you admire the company. 3rd sentence- tell them one thing you will accomplish for them (the idea is to create a picture in the ops mgr's mind of one of his/her problems being solved, with you as the source). 4th sentence- tell them you are available to answer any further questions they may have. Out of respect, I would cc your recruiter when sending this. Keep in mind that many e-mail addresses are blocked, or sent to a spam folder. Your e-mail may never be seen. More importantly, you are not asking them to respond, so they are not obligated to respond.
No reference sources. I am a recruiter with Snelling, and the advice comes from our training program and personal experiences.
