What kind of jobs are available in the dental field for students?

I am a pre-med student right now looking to go to dental school and eventually be an orthodontist. I would like a job that will look good on my resume and give me some experience in the field. What am I qualified for or what is available? Do you need any certification to become a dental assistant? Like I said, I am still in school and I am looking for a part-time or full-time summer job or a part-time job during the school year for the experience.
