What are my options for CNA(certified nursing assistant) training?
Asked by Nikki
I would like to be a CNA while I am in college. I am not a nursing major, but would like to earn better money and help people for a couple years. I already have my AA. I called all the nursing homes, and none of them offer classes or on the job training. The only places that offer a CNA license are the local colleges. I don't want to pay $350 to $500, and sit in another class for 5 months. Is there any online CNA classes? And if so, are they legit?

No you have to have 30 hours of clinical hours before you can be a CNA. I would highly advise against being a CNA. I was a CNA for eight years and finally quit thank GOD!!! It was the worst job ever. It pays good but not a good job. I have been hit, kicked, punched, bitten, and one person almost caused me to loose my daughter when I was pregnant. Work at Sears or anywere but as a CNA.

I am a cna/chha. just got my cert here in california. hospitals here dont hire you unless you have 6months accute care experience. now how the heck do you get accute care experience in a hospital if they never hire you? I had to take 120 hours clinical and had a job at the long term care facility where all you do is work on old people...yuk it totally sucked. now i have a job teaching mentally challenged people how to be independent. but if you want to be a cna go to a local college. you have to get clinical and theory hours. good luck.
