Career Questions and Answers

How do I get a job as an insurance claims adjuster for an auto insurance company?
Asked by reallydarkwillow
I am interested in changing my career to become a claims adjuster. Now I work in a body shop as a painter's helper / jamb man. I have a bachelor's degree in Economics and I once held an insurance license in South Carolina for life, accident and health insurance sales. I don't like selling, though. I have a good eye for detail, particularly with paint work and I am proficient with digital photography and computers. I need to know if my experience is enough to get an entry level job as an adjuster or perhaps a similar type of job inspecting work from body shops for insurance companies. Also, what duties would such a job entail, and what is the typical pay scale I could expect upon entry and after I have done the job for a few years? Is there anything I can do now to better prepare me for the switch, such as getting some kind of license or specific research I could do online to train myself in my spare time? Thanks in advance. The more detailed information you can give me the better.
