What are the requirements to be a certified nurse midwife?
Asked by ashleyyy014
I live in Georgia, if that helps, I'm not sure if the laws are different. I am about to complete my associates degree in nursing. I have heard recently that the law is about to change so that you have to have a doctorate degree to be a CNM, and to be a family nurse practitioner. (Although my professor's have not confirmed this, they said the idea has been tossed around for a while though) Is this true? If not, would a master's degree still allow you to become a FNP, or CNM?

I think you only need your Masters in womens health. You don't need Phd. I am in California and we have programs here to become CNM without any PHD

A:
No law & not even a requirement for a doctorate & only a handful of programs even confer this degree at this time, so not true currently.
