How long does it takes to get a job as Medical Coding & Medical Billing?
Asked by Tina P
I was just curious how long does it takes to get a job as Medical Coding & Billing after graduation from a vocational program? I would be looking for a job in Illinois and how much to start without experience?

It shouldn't be too hard to find a job in your area. Starting out w/o any certification starting pay would be about $12 an hour. You should plan to sit for your CCA exam through AHIMA right after graduation.

To be very honest, you may find getting a job in coding/billing pretty difficult. The field is getting pretty over run & many places only want experienced. See if your program can place you (ask how many grads they successfully place). Good luck
