Career Questions and Answers

Jason F
Which fields should a college undergraduate enter to have a lucrative career?
Asked by Jason F
I'm thinking about majoring in Political Science or Economics. What fields can I enter that will make a lot of money, have great opportunities for upward mobility, not dreadfully monotonous, etc. My main concern is income, though. I'm talking as close to immediate as possible, within a year or two upon graduation. Or even a profession in which I can intern or begin while in college. What are some good options, generally speaking? Graduate/professional schools are an option as well. I'm currently an undeclared second year at UCLA.

It is best to choose a career that matches your interests. Otherwise, even if you are successful, you will not be happy with your work. This site will give you a 30 minute quiz to find out what you are interested in, then it will give you a list of occupations that match your interests. It also has information on the various occupations, like what training you need, what the job consists of, future demand, pay, etc. It's free. http://www.ioscar.org/LA/ Click on: Full Flight > Assessment > Interest Profiler
