How do I fill out a part-time job application with no experience?
Asked by Coconut
I'm turning 16 this summer and I'm having trouble getting a part-time job. I have 2 applications with me for stores near my house, but I have nothing to fill out for experience. I've put babysitting, but I don't think that counts as I've been babysitting my baby cousin. What else could I put so that I could get that call?

Let the baby sitting stay. I think it counts. It is not your own baby. If you do not have any other job experience, you just do not have one. This is where you will get your real experience. You have to start somewhere. Just complete the rest of the form and hand it in.

Be honest and tell the truth. Baby Sitting is a job. Put that. Explain to the owner you are looking to begin working. They know you are young so they will expect you not to have much experience. If the owner still doesn't hire you then you should want to work there anyway. keep trying and something will come up. Not sure were you live but some area's have a summer youth program or city jobs for kids. The the web or call 311 for info in the US
Hope this helps

Experience most likely may not be necessary.

Just be honest. Employers don't expect a 16 yr. old to have much previous experience and understand that everyone has to start somewhere. Good luck!
