As for ultrasound sonographer jobs in NY, are there many available jobs in NYC?

I want to apply for sonography program in SUNY Downstate College, but want to find out if there are many jobs available in NYC before applying.

You should make sure that the program is an accredited program thru ARDMS. There is an abundance of sono jobs everywhere in the country, just check with your local hospital or mobile labs.

Well, first off, I'd look for job postings.Most hospitals have websites where you can look for job openings, so, that's one option. There's also the sunday newspaper or you could try careerbuilder.com, or some website like that. You might try calling the dean or someone knowledgeable up at the school you're wanting to apply to and ask if they know how many of their sonography graduates get jobs after they complete the program. Something to remember, there's no such thing as too much education. So, if you complete the sonography program and find yourself not as busy at work as you want to be, you could try getting more certifications and specialize in an some area. Good luck! I don't think you have anything to worry about, a lot of things in the medical field are really good to get into.
