Is it safe to quit a healthcare job and expect to be hired somewhere else during this economic crisis?

Such healthcare jobs like nurses, techs, aids, clerks, billing, coding. I am disliking my job and the people I work with and want to look for a better job but I don't know if its a good time to quit and try to find another job with this economy. How will I know if I can get another job once I quit? Some advise please.

It is never safe to quit a job with out having another job, in any economy. Many hospitals are downsizing and are cutting out positions due to reimbursement issues. There are parts of the country that have shortages and some that are not experiencing any shortages or minimal shortages of workers. Put up with this unpleasant situation until you get another job. You can tolerate anything for a period of time. And will be a motivator to get another job. healthcare is a tough field. There are many unhappy people in healthcare due to the pressures of having to do more with less. I have found that people in health care would rather complain and be miserable, than to change their situation. Kudos to you for want to improve your situation and put the negative environment behind you. Just be smart and take time to look and find a better situation.

It's almost never advisable to quit a job without finding a new one first, even in a strong economy. Healthcare jobs are still in high demand though

Look for a job while you are still employed so you will be able to be more selective if you have multiple job offers, instead of taking any job just because you need to work. Your new employer will be more than willing to wait for you to put in a two week notice.

Find a job before you quit! Applicants who are employed are always more desirable to prospective employers than someone who is unemployed. Plus, some hospitals are closing ERs, laying off people due to budget problems. If you are working, you'll have time to investigate situations more carefully and find what you are really looking for.
