Terrorize My Heart, Crazy Men
What sort of questions should I expect in a job interview for office work (secretary/receptionist)?
Asked by Terrorize My Heart, Crazy Men
I will be going into a job interview next Thursday. The man is an old friend of my father's, and only hires people he knows and trusts. My two older brothers already work for him, along with my father. Still, I want to make a good impression and not freeze up. I want to know what sort of questions one should expect when going in for an interview for office work. (He may hire me to be a receptionist or maybe just doing miscellaneous office tasks)

Anytime an employer asks you a question, they want to know how you can help their bottom line. When an employer asks you about why you want to work in a given industry, your answer should reflect the contribution that you could make to the industry. They want people with a passion for what they do, even if the position is administrative. If you can't think of something that sounds interesting enough, focus on a particular skill or interest that you have that will contribute nicely to the company's objectives. While none of us here can say what we think the interview questions can really be, since we don't know the job description, try to find out as much about the position before the interview from people that already work there, that way you have a heads up to what they may ask about. Just remember, all answers should lead back to your contribution to the company.
