Employment insurance before going back to school?
Asked by zangestsu
I'm on employment insurance right now and I'm planning on going back to university to pursue a masters degree. Originally I had no intention of going to back to school and was actively searching for full-time work. However, right now I'm only looking for a temporary job (summer/contract) before I start school.
So my question is: in my online report am I allowed to say that I was ready and willing to work each day of the week although I was only looking for temporary work instead of full-time work? Any help is much appreciated.

Yes you are ready willing and able to work. This is all they really want to know. What you are searching for doesn't effect the report. So if you are looking for part time thats fine. Now are you getting funding from E.I. to go back to school, beacuse they will pay you what you get now to go for you masters. If you need help on how is done check out, http://www.mrjobs.ca/training.html.
For any other help with E.I. Check out http://www.mrjobs.ca/index.html to get the most out of your entitlement.

if your going to school full time, tell them. if your attending school at night dont tell them you are and always put your available for work.
you will still collect. sometimes its best not to even say anything. i attended school and told them, then i had to go through the whole phone interview again.
if it was me. i wouldnt even mention school at all.
they never check who you applied to. theres 5 million people out of work and only a hand full of state employees handling all of the unemployment forms.
bottom line: the government lies to us so lie back.
