Former Wildland Firefighters Who Worked For The Federal G'vnt?

If anyone has worked as a temporary wildland firefighter, please help me out. Did you get hired without experience or qualifications? When is too late to apply for these jobs? February? When would the federal agency contact you? Were you provided with housing? How did the hiring process go?
