How to become a great Cashier at Borders?
Asked by Morelia
Can you guys tell me good tips on how to become a better cashier? I just started at Borders (today was my first training session, but it was really short). I want to do a great job!

As you go through your on-the-job training, try to make some brief notes on index cards. Do this between customers if possible, not while someone is waiting. Otherwise, wait until the end of your shift and review the pointers with your trainer. Keep the cards handy for reference when you start to cashier on your own. Ask questions as they come into your mind. Listen carefully to customers and respond to their questions as accurately as possible. If you don't know the answers, admit that you are still learning and need to ask your supervisor for the information.

Do everything they tell you to do and it will go great. Stop worrying

You should be polite, smiley, FAST, try to count the money accurately so you dont get in trouble. Be friendly and bring stuff from Borders to your sister.
