Career Questions and Answers
What should I do with my career?
Asked by Nick
I have a Associates Degree in Computer Information Technology. I've been in this field for more then four years now. Lately, it hasn't been rewarding to me regarding salary wise. What should I do to advance? Should I get my certifications? I was hoping I can get a job in desktop support. What do you guys recommend? Please be realistic and honest. Thank you so much.

Volunteer a few places-- you have alot to give. This will translate into what you want to do. Go for certifications. Makes you valuable to your employer.

No seriously, the cpu industry in America is all but gone, and it is hard to get a job because many industry veterans have been laid off in the past decade.

First of all, in todays world an associate degree doesnt mean Shiit. Go back for a bacholers if its available. And by all means get your certification. Get as much of that stuff as possible. School is the shiit man. Get another degree in a related field like Networking or something. If an employer sees that your fluent with computers, you will then be making big bucks

Microsoft Cerificates are the path to higher paying jobs. My hubby is a programmer with his MCSD and makes close to 100K since he has a few years exp and is a Senior .Net programmer... Still not bad for a guy who doesn't have his Bachelors. He makes more than me and I have a Biology BA
