You should definitely check out Workopolis.com for their tips and tricks for Resume writing. Also, put your best foot forward and let them know why they should hire you. People skills are important when you are applying for a retail store. Everyone gives training, they will not expect you to be fully trained ahead of time.

Tell them you are a great writer and that you hope they enjoy fiction. Only include stores that have recently went out of business as past employers and use friends as references. If you are good looking, include a picture with your resume, it can't hurt.

Besides expanding on the customer service experience and skills that you do have, there are many other qualifications you could put on your resume may be desirable in retail. This could include scheduling availability, languages, and travel experience.
