If a restaurant wants a bartender with restaurant experience, is it possible they will hire without it?
Asked by Chances
I am a bartender, but have only worked at theaters and freelance. I have good references as well. There is a job opening for a bartender at a restaurant, however, they are looking for someone with restaurant experience. What are the odd that they will hire me WITHOUT restaurant experience? Is it worth me even going? Has anyone else ever landed a restaurant bartending job without restaurant experience and how did you do it?

Best Answer:
Try to get the job. If not, apply to work as a waiter. Then sub in whenever the bartender calls in sick or goes on vacation..

Especially in this economy when they probably get a ton of applications for one job, they can probably choose from several applicants who meet their requirements. However, I'd still try because you never know...
