I'm interested in an emt position so I can work towards a medical degree. I wanted to know what types of emts are out there and how long is each program. I'm doing my B.S. in biology so I want to do something quick so I can get into regular job.

It depends on where you live. Every state and even county can be different. The national registrars test is the same nationally. EMT programs can range from 6 months to one year. EMT I and EMT II are the two main types, then EMT-P if you later become a paramedic. EMT pay is very poor. If you are going to use it as a stepping stone, then it is fine. Otherwise EMT's do not make enough if you are looking to get rich. Your best bet would be to search for "becoming an EMT in <put your state and county here> and see what information you get. Like I said, EMT programs are different in every state and county. I hope this helps Additional: Since you are interested in a medical degree, I would suggest looking into becoming an Emergency Room Tech. It is the same as EMT, but you are working in the E.R. You learn a lot as an E.R. tech a lot faster then in an ambulance. Also if you choose to pursue the EMT, the best way to get experience is by running 911 calls. Otherwise all you will be doing is basic transporting of patients to and from different medical offices. You can check with your local hospital to see if they have E.R. techs at their facility. Then your local college should have to program to enroll in so that you can get certified.
