Asked by Elandia
I'm really passionate about video games, but I don't know what qualifications I need. What courses do I need to take, and how much does it pay?

It depends on your definition of designer. As far as I know there are two degrees you can get for video game designing. The first one is a programming degree for designing on each platform the console maker gives them. Xbox, Playstation, and Wii all have different design packages they send out to companies when they want to make games. Check out Westwood College and their video game degree program. I'm sure more colleges offer a degree in video game design.
The short answer is: Get a degree from a leading video game college. Then submit your resume/apply to your Sega, Konami, Ubisoft, etc. companies that design the games. This is an extremely competitive industry now, so you'll need good grades.
