How can I get involved in CAD?
Asked by GhostPoo
I have no experience working in this field, however I am quite handy with Autocad and 3DS MAX, how can I start a career in this area? College or further education isn't an option, unfortunately.

You would look for CAD /drafter designer openings; although many CAD drafters have a associates or a certificate and more education than just being handy. For architectural CAD you need to know building codes & structural elements and architectural page set up. Some community colleges have 1 or 2 classes you could take to help with this--I took one & it was $35.00. Besides architecture, their are CAD drafters in engineering, landscape architecture, product development, urban planning etc.

Get a recognised qualification, then teach either privately or advertise yourself to engineering based companies. Good money in that field! Good luck

Autodesk used to have an exam (a few hours tops) what if you pass they gave you a certificate for Autocad. I've done mine ages ago with Autocad R14 and it looks good in my CV :)
