What is it like to work at a skilled nursing facility?
Asked by septemberkaren
I am an Occupational Therapist. I received a job offer from a skilled nursing facility. What is it like to work at SNF as an OT? Is there a heavy duty physical work involved?

Best Answer:
Occupational Therapists must be capable of lifting or moving patients and heavy equipment as well as have the ability to stand for extended periods of time. The majority of these professionals work standard 40 hour weeks in community or healthcare settings, but approximately one-quarter of these therapists work part time hours. Due to the amount of machines located in larger facilities, noise is often a burden that must be tolerated.

its funny what we call nursing home nowadays. i dont know what its like as an OT but for a RN its a shit load a work that can never be completed in 8hrs. so you end up spending 9 hours there or not taking a break so you can get out of work ontime
