Who is more likely to get laid off: A part-time employee or full-timer?

The two have equal positions, but one works part-time and the other full-time. In these economic hard times, who is more likely to get laid off?

It depends. Usually the part-time because businesses try to cut costs little bits at a time, and they think they can easily do without a part-timer. But if someone is full-time and not doing a good job, then that person better really watch out because the company can save much more by getting rid of that person.

Depends on the benefits package and overtime policies, but if both employees are equal in what they get benefits wise, I'd say it's a toss up. You don't pay more for one employee or the other, just one works more than the other.

Chances are the full-timer as they would save money on not having to pay out his/her benefits and over time.

Full-time....of course..... This IS America.....we do everything backwards these days..... Corporate America IS ALWAYS interested in saving a buck......easy one to answer......

its more cost effective to lay off the full-timer but its probably going to be the one with the least seniority.

It's really hard to say without more specifics. I'd lead towards the full-time person getting laid off because (as someone else said) they'd have to pay out more for vacation, benefits and salary for the full-time person. On the other hand the full-time employee might be more "valuable" to the company, which is why they're full-time doing the same job in the first place. Like I said, it's hard to say without knowing the situation firsthand.
