I want to work at American Eagle. I'm 18.
Do you have any quick tips for how to get the job?
I have worked in three restaurants, but I have never worked in retail.

If you get an interview, research AE before hand and know some facts about the company!
Some things I mentioned in my interview: (As well as the basic I'm a hard worker, I pay attention to detail blah blah blah)
- Say you live the "Live Your Life" philosophy
- How AEO would be a store you would be proud to work in
- How you think AEO is more customer focused than it's competitors, and that's why it's appealing to you
And be personable, and just overall nice and outgoing.
I got hired on the spot after my interview at AE :)

ok, so you don't have retail experience - no problem.
you have experience in serving the public and establishing instant rapport with many different types of people.
you have extensive customer service experience and cash handling/accountability experience.
you're quick on your feet and able to work as part of a team in order to achieve customer satisfaction and repeat business.

Retail and grocery stores are getting 100 applications per week because teenagers always apply at places they know. You will do better to go to office buildings and industrial areas.
The tips for American Eagle is to tell them upfront that you will show up on-time and that you will work hard. That is all they want to know. Their biggest problem is getting the workers to show up on time; and then getting them motivated to help the customers who walk in the front door.
Don't "prepare" any interview answers. Talk to the interviewer as if she were an old friend you had not seen in years. Tell her about you and your family and your interests..
