How do i get started in plumbing?
Asked by lisa0018
I'm a 20 year old female that is currently in a dead end factory job. I want to get into the plumbing industry but don't know where to start with courses, apprenticeships, learning at home and everything that is on offer now.
If anyone has done this or knows someone that has, or if anyone knows of any companies that take on apprentices it would be really helpful.
Especially if anyone knows of any female plumbing companies.

Start by calling the local plumbing union and asking if there are any openings in their apprenticeship program. If not, call your local community college or vo-tech school and see if they have career classes for plumbing. If not, try calling some of the area plumbing companies (try the larger ones) and ask if they train new plumbers and what you have to do. You might also call your state department of licensing and ask whether there are requirements for plumbing licenses and what the qualifications are.

Just wear really lowcut jeans that show your butt crack, and carry a wrench everywhere.
