How would I pursue a career in automotive design?

I'm an 18 year old senior in high school and I would like to pursue a career in automotive design with a focus in Sport Utility Vehicles and Trucks. I don't necessarily want to focus on the exterior artistic aspects, but more the chassis, engine, suspension, capabilities, accesories, etc.

maybe look into Industrial design. They work on mass-produced goods. Look at the auto websites - all of them from Honda to Ford and see if they have any of these positions listed - and then look over the skills required - that will give you a good place to start.
