how long do you have to attend school to become a buyer? how many years in collage does it take?

In the toy industry you can do this job right out of high school. Most buyers have done 2 years of community college but there are no classes that teach you. In the semiconductor industry, most buyers have college degrees. In the aerospace industry, most buyers have college degrees. In the retail industry, community college is usually enuf. They want you to be up-to-date on fashion trends and no one can teach you that..

I think that you can leave school with a good knowledge of whatever merchandise is necessary to your chosen field. But few positions are as susceptible to bribery as a Buyer, and any business would need to know the person and their honesty long enough to trust them with the post. It could take years - post graduation.

one of my friends has been working as a buyer for more than 5 years. he graduated from university 5 years ago.his major is not related to this field.when he graduted it was difficult to find a job,then a company offered him a position as a procurement.he became a buyer.,now he is good at it.the most important thing for a buyer is experience.you can become a buyer just after your graduation if someone offer you a chance.there are a lot of things to learn when you are doing the job,which you can't learn from school.
