When faxing someone a resume, does anything special need to be done?
Asked by SexyC
By special I mean do I have to send anything other than my resume itself
Oh a cover letter? That sucks. I've never had to do one before. Okay let me ask this: Is a cover letter needed for a medical receptionist job found on craigslist? The post just says fax resume. Sorry for all the questions but I'm 19 and still learning.

Make sure you include a great cover letter.

Yes, you should include a fax cover letter. Look up "sample resume cover letter" on a search engine so you get the idea.

Definitely include a cover letter. If you can't think of what to write, and your CV is impressive enough, it's okay to put something like:
"I would like to apply for the current vacancy of Medical Receptionist, and I enclose a copy of my CV. I believe that I would be an excellent candidate for the position, and you will see that I meet all criteria specified for the role. I look forward to hearing from you, please don't hesitate to contact me if you require any further information."

You should always include a cover letter when faxing a resume to any company. Your cover letter should be short, basic, and to the point, it should state the position that you are applying for, it should be addressed to the person or company that you are applying to, and it should have some basic information about yourself and your qualifications for the position that you are applying for. A cover letter is like an introduction, a good cover letter will encourage the person who receives your resume to want to learn more about you, and then they will read your resume. If your cover letter is not included, or your cover letter is uninteresting, they may skip over your resume all together.
You can find some examples of cover letters, along with some other do's and don'ts for resumes at: http://www.careercc.com/resumpr.shtml
Good luck to you!
