Going from Full to Part Time and Unemployment in New York?

I had to go from full to part time. The part time will not last indefinitely and I am wondering about unemployment. Do I just file when the part time ends? If it lasts for months will I still qualify for unemployment at that time? I live in New York. I tried to file online, but I was unable because I was currently working part time. There seems to be no discussion of this on their faw nor any number to contact someone at the deaprt of labor to ask this question.
