Inside Sales tips needed to increase sales for rookies...?

Our teams approach has always been a "product dump" on the initial call with prospect. We have had what I would consider steady and OK results, but we are looking for new ideas. Any thoughts? Anyone ever tried setting a phone apointment for a later date much like you would in an outside sales situation?
