When interviewing for this type of job you will need to look businesslike and professional, so dress up rather than down. A smart skirt suit and buttoned shirt would look great. Don't overdo makeup, jewellery, perfume or aftershave, don't smoke before you go in, chew gum, eat curry or drink alcohol the night before - you want to smell fresh and clean. Be sure to research the company, find out the values they have, the products they offer, the type of customers they serve, where they are heading in terms of the future etc. Additionally research the job role. What does a teller do and what skills will they be seeking. The role will have a focus on customer service and selling add on products, so any experience you have here will be an advantage as will cash handling. Think of examples you can offer to demonstrate your abilities rather than just presenting a list. Think through the type of questions they may ask you and what you might say in response. Google "Questions I may be asked at interview" or"Typical interview questions" etc and you'll get dozens of sites that will help here. Prepare questions for the interviewer as most recruiters will ask if you have any questions for them. At this point ask things that will help you to decide whether the job is for you e.g. how will your performance be measured in the early months, what is a typical day like, what does the training scheme entail etc. Steer clear of asking about salary at this stage - if this is of concern research the salary offered via google to give you a rough idea of the earnings potential. Make sure you know where they are and how you will get there so you are not late. Do a dummy run if necessary. Take your CV/Resume and certificates with you and make sure you have a copy of them to leave with them if they would like to retain them. If your laws dictate you need to prove your eligibility to work (as in UK) take your ID with you and again have copies ready to offer them. This demonstrates your organisational skills which would obviously be a plus in this type of job. Make sure you ask when and how they will be in touch to let you know the outcome of the interview so you are not left hanging. Evaluate your performance and jot down a few notes of what went well, what went not so well and drop them a line to thank them for the time taken to interview you and reiterate your key skills and continued interest in the role. Hopefully you wll be successful but if not use it as a learning opportunity. Call them and ask for feedback to help you to improve your performance in future. Compare what they say to your own evaluation to make sure your view was not skewed - learn from it and move on. Best of luck.

suit you need to look like the employees who work there and they're always meeting and selling to the public. yes, tellers are salespeople -- as well as transaction processors.

Wear something business like. Like khakis and a dress shirt or nice shirt that covers your chest. Or a skirt and nice shirt or another type of dress pants. And make sure you smell ok and wear makeup (lightly so you look like you arent wearing any or much) if you are a woman.

please do not wear khakis. business professional. plain and simple. I hire tellers and other branch staff for a bank on the east coast, and we tell ALL candidates to dress business professionally whether you are a teller or branch manager. That means suit jacket or blazer and slacks/appropriate length skirt. No low-cut shirt. No flip-flops or open toe shoes. No overabundance of jewelry. You should invest in one great suit, even if you never have to wear it at work - will need it for interviewing. If you are still unsure of what to wear, call the person who set you up on the interview and ask them. This will not affect you in a negative way - it is better to find out than to be wrong. Interview tips - not sure about that bank, but my bank stresses customer service, flexibility with scheduling, and genuine interest in advancing with the company. Say these things... but MEAN it. We can tell when someone is not invested in the position. Many questions now for banking positions are behavioral questions... so they pose a situation you give them an Action and Result. Tell them a specific instance and what happened. Biggest tip - PLEASE research the company. Most interviewers will ask you what you know about them. This can be a bad way to start an interview if you do not know anything about them.
